Cwmcynwyn is a small family run hill farm, the farming system revolves around the management of a hefted flock of sheep which during the summer months graze the mountains above the farm.
The farm lies in its own secluded little valley literally in the shadows of the Brecon Beacons. The difficult nature of the land has meant that a high percentage of the ground has remained wooded or semi improved. This low impact farming system combined with an ongoing tree planting and hedgerow regeneration policy has resulted in a wonderful variety of flora and fauna.
Otter and Red Kite have returned to the valley in recent years, but there are all the species of birds you would expect to see. Badger, fox and brown hare are commonplace. The farm is also graced by the presence of a large variety of wild flowers and other plant life.
